SELECTED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES PROJECTS

ICE Detention Centers | 2010

In partnership with the Broadsword Alliance, Simtec’s staff provided survey support and design work in support of the re-engineering of access control, video surveillance, electronic door locks, and motion sensors for ICE Detention Centers in the continental U.S.

 

Through this, Simtec was able to provide ICE with the most advanced and cost effective upgrades possible, avoiding the need for a ‘forklift’ replacement of the entire infrastructure.

 

 


 

TSA Airport Networks | 2008-2010

Simtec Global, LLC, as a subcontractor to ECS, under the ITSS program provided Emerging Technologies research support for OIT.

 

In under two years Simtec’s staff authored over 20 technology papers for TSA.  Simtec pioneered the first unfied mobile computing position paper for a DHS component - which later became widely accepted policy across DHS.

 

Simtec’s staff also tested and validated mobile computing service products for TSA – creating the first accepted iPhone and Android replacement project of Blackberries within DHS

 

As part of Emerging Technologies, Simtec’s staff documented end user requirements and authored a software specification in conjunction with In-Q-Tel to create an iPhone App for for synchronous, recorded, voice and data communications and messaging via an encrypted infrastructure, making all conversations viewable by a central Security Center.

 

Simtec’s staff worked with TSA Office of security Operations staff on multipe database, business intelligence, and non-traditional IP services to create infrastructures supporting an IP based TV studio, digital signage, ‘town hall’ broadcasts, and security scanning equipment data collection capabilities.

 

 




White House/National Archives | 2007-2010

Simtec’s staff performs Security Architecture and Engineering  for the Executive office of the President (EOP), and the National Archives (NARA), via a Lockheed martin contract vehicle.  Simtec is helping these federal agencies secure both network and web application infrastructures as well as achieve FISMA compliance (Public Law 107), and various other industry requirements - NIST 800-3, PCI, HIPPA etc., as required.

 

Simtec has an application Security Architect working closely with the customer and Lockheed Martin software architects and software designers in developing secure application structures that leverage secure design principles and federal mandates.

 

Simtec's Security Architect performs software code reviews and Static code analysis in order to find security issues in coding practices.  Simtec's Architect also perform application level and system level scanning.

 

Simtec has been recognized by the customer for performance on Web Application Penetration testing/ Ethical Hacking tasks.

 

Simtec also assists in directing overall Security Architectural efforts for emerging threat detection.

FEMA Disaster Assistance Improvement Program | 2008-2010

Simtec’s staff were contracted to FEMA to function as an Enterprise Architecture Documentation Manager and Subject Matter Expert for the DHS System Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).  Simtec’s staff were responsible for defining and creating IT artifacts required for the Disaster Assistance Improvement Program (DAIP) at FEMA. The primary role was to serve as the liaison for DAIP, FEMA Enterprise Architecture office and DHS Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (EACOE).

 

Simtec's staff maintained documentation and managing team inputs to comply with DHS SELC directive requirements. The DHS SELC documentation requirements include planning, security, design, compliance, operations, and disposition of IT systems.
