Simtec’s Emerging Technologies Practice is an informational and product review team that seeks to accelerate the introduction of innovative information technologies, applications and management tools by our customers. Emerging Technologies are considered those technologies that are new to the marketplace, provide new concepts in the use of an existing technology, or although available in the marketplace have not yet been readily adopted by customers. Emerging Technologies include many technologies - not just
computer related technologies. Simtec’s Emerging Technologies Practice
will provide your organization with the insight, information and technical approaches
that will give you an edge in the assimilation of new technologies. Contact us for some innovative and thought provoking discussions about the future, and how bringing a focus on Emerging Technologies to your organization can save money both now and in the future. |
SOME TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIONS OF NOTE

Conductive Inks for RFID A new innovation
in conductive metalic and silicone based inks can provide a printed label
with a suspended silicon ink that today can store 128 bits of data and
transmit the data at 106 kilobits per second. The adoption for
commercial and government inventory control, anti-theft, transportation
security, and original documents is already underway in the U.S., Europe and
Asia. From inexpensive
intentory control labels to Identify
Friend or Foe (IFF) for military ground forces, the options for adoption
are only limited by our imaginations. Future adoptions
will provide the ability to print entire electronic circuits, flash memory
and even batteries on ordinary paper. But then again, in
the near future, ordinary paper will not be made from wood pulp, but rather
recycled plastics and silicas that can be melted and reused thousands of times,
holding printed text that can carry data. Simtec Global is a member of IEEE-USA’s
Committee for Commumications and Internet Policy – working on identifying
innovations that have promise for use in commercial markets. Simtec Global currently assists NCR Corporation
with work on conductive ink. |

Replication in the Cloud The term Cloud Computing, is ubiquitous these
days, and takes on many forms – sometimes even those created in the minds of
sales people. One of the coming
visions of the use of Cloud Computing
is the assurance of the preservation of data.
Taking back-ups and replication of data to entirely new levels. Simtec Global, LLC is partnering with a variety of firms to aid in defining and applying
complete data replication in Cloud
Computing. For an example of
cloud replication, check out what Replicus has in
the works. |
